Noble and Greenough School - Master Plan & Building Study

Dedham, Massachusetts, USA

BDG enjoyed working with the School for years on a variety of Campus improvements. For this Master Plan Study BDG was requested to lead the Building Committee through a meaningful exploration of how spaces and facilities at Noble and Greenough can best support innovative and evolving methods of teaching and learning in the next half century. Specific goals included defining the role, look and best location of a new or renovated “library,” and increasing laboratory spaces both for classroom use and individual student projects.

In the first step of the process, we reviewed the overall existing Campus buildings, landscape conditions, space utilization, and pedestrian traffic patterns in order to uncover any areas where functionality could be enhanced, or perhaps swapped in location with current or future needs to promote fresh adjacencies among functions.

Multiple ideas and options were presented and evaluated throughout the process. The study concluded with the Building Committee presented a recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
