Analog Devices - Engineering Innovation Hub & Customer Demonstration Center

Boston, Massachusetts, USA

LEED v4 Gold

The Engineering Team at the Analog Garage is an exciting and focused group of individuals dedicated to developing the next generation of technological innovations. This special entrepreneurial division of Analog Devices was created as a research and development center in downtown Boston to support a “Start Up” community of talented individuals to bring new ideas to life.

For this project BDG was asked to re-imagine what a future Analog Devices Office should look and feel like, so this Research Lab and Office Space project became a full-size mock-up of ideas that could be transformed into their future World Headquarters. This 35,000 sq. ft. project located at the top of a high-rise tower is in the center of one of Boston’s major transportation hubs. The new Research Laboratories and Office Spaces support and foster Analog’s neurodiverse team members, their collaborative culture, and the social spaces can host large industry related events. Employees and guests can enjoy the panoramic views of the city and harbor while utilizing the engaging laboratories, workspaces, meeting rooms, and large café for all-hands meetings.

There are two expansive roof decks with gardens located on the 21st floor, totaling over 4,000 SF. The Roof Decks were created by reinforcing the existing building’s structure because the original structure had never envisioned the need to occupy the roofs. Gaining approval from the Landlord and the City of Boston were just two of the challenges in achieving this aspect of the project. BDG worked closely with the Construction Manager to detail and coordinate how to install the steel and glass panels 21 stories over the pedestrian sidewalks below. The Roof Decks transformed the former roofscape from a four-season wind tunnel to a highly desirable landscape and gathering spaces with amazing views for the Analog Devices employees and Community Events.

Please note: None of the propriety research Laboratories were photographed.
